Renovation and construction of extensions of a villa in Bierges

Located in Bierges, this family villa has been extensively renovated, accompanied by the construction of new extensions. The owners, who have been living in the house for many years, wanted above all to gain space and improve living comfort, without breaking with the existing identity of the place.

The project was built around thoughtful expansion and precise work on materials, volumes and custom layouts, in order to create a coherent continuity between the existing spaces and the new areas added.

‍

A family home to be developed

The customers, a couple in their fifties with two children, had lived in the house for over fifteen years. Their request focused mainly on increasing living areas and better organization of spaces, in particular to meet family uses. The objective was not only to renovate the existing one, but to build extensions to accommodate new volumes, designed for daily use.

Interior design and extensions

The project is structured around two extensions carried out in distinct directions. The first, located in the extension of the living room, makes it possible to create a vast play area dedicated to children. Upstairs, this new volume also offers an important functional contribution, with the development of a bathroom for parents.

The second extension concerns the ground floor and accommodates the kitchen as well as a family room, including the dining room. This new surface is a direct continuation of the kitchen and becomes a central place in daily life, designed for moments shared with the family.

Custom carpentry and integrated furniture

The entire project is marked by extensive custom carpentry work. In the living spaces, a storage unit in gray and stained oak veneer structures the dining room. Shelves backlit by LED strips provide indirect lighting and highlight the lines of the furniture. The carpentry also integrates the television soundbar into the cabinet under the screen.

An office area, open to the living room, uses the same aesthetic codes and materials, ensuring visual continuity. This approach is found in several rooms in the house, reinforcing the unity of the project.

Bedrooms and dressing

In the master bedroom, located in the attic, a false ceiling was created in order to integrate adjustable indirect lighting. The floor is covered with a gray oak floor, used consistently throughout the sleeping areas.

The furniture is entirely custom made: TV stand with backlit shelves, bed frame in the same oak veneer, and wall covered in white lacquered MDF behind the bed. On both sides, built-in storage frames the space and leads to the main bathroom. The parental dressing room extends this work, with gray oak storage and lacquered elements discreetly integrating the radiator.

Master bathroom

The parents' bathroom is distinguished by its generous volumes and its sober treatment of materials. The floor, the shelves around the bath and some walls are made of ceramic sandstone tiles. The sink unit and the shelves are covered in taupe-colored Silestone, which is also used in large panels at the bottom of the shower. The lighting, designed with care, highlights the materials and contributes to the soothing atmosphere of the space.

Custom kitchen

The kitchen is entirely custom designed in High Gloss lacquered MDF, with a high gloss finish. This solution made it possible to integrate a full-height door leading to the laundry room and the boiler room, hidden in all the facades.

A large central island accommodates both the sink and a dining area. It is backlit and topped by a beige Silestone worktop, chosen for its resistance and consistency with the rest of the project. The kitchen opens directly onto the family room and the dining room, creating a fluid and convivial whole.

Conclusion

This renovation and construction of villa extensions in Bierges illustrates a global approach, where the expansion of volumes, the consistency of materials and tailor-made solutions play a central role. Each space has been designed to meet the real uses of the family, while building a homogeneous interior design. A project that shows how interior architecture can support the evolution of a living space, with precision and continuity.
