Complete renovation of a villa in Kraainem

Located in a residential area of Kraainem, this character villa has been completely renovated with a clear desire: to preserve the classic soul of the house while adapting it to a contemporary lifestyle.

The project concerns a childless couple, immediately seduced by the original architecture and by the garden that surrounds the property. Home Design's intervention was deployed on all interior spaces, with constant attention paid to circulations, volumes and the overall coherence of the layouts.

A house with character, an assumed project

The villa is part of an architectural fabric typical of Kraainem, composed of classical houses with generous proportions. The customers wanted to renovate the entire house without erasing its identity. Certain aesthetic preferences, especially in cooking, were part of their personal history. The project was thus built in a constant dialogue, where Home Design supported the owners' choices while ensuring the overall balance of the spaces.

Restoring a clear reading to circulations

From the moment you enter, the work on the circulations structures the project. The existing staircase has been replaced, while the hall floor has been repolished in order to regain its original presence. New lighting and sconces highlight the volumes and reinforce the architectural legibility of this transition space, the first contact with the house.

Bathrooms as places of comfort and material

The main bathroom has been arranged around furniture in American walnut, providing a warm and coherent presence with the other spaces in the house. A hairdressing area has been integrated, designed for daily use. The guest cloakroom, previously reduced to a simple sink, has been completely redesigned around a tailor-made set, designed as a real reception area.

Rooms and storage, controlled continuity

Upstairs, an old corridor composed of traditional closets has been transformed with custom slatted storage, accompanied by lighting integrated into a curved ceiling. The main dressing room has been entirely custom designed, with an opening directly connecting to the bedroom. In the bedrooms, the arrangements are extended by headboards integrating built-in bedside tables and a motorized TV stand.

The living room, between heritage and reinterpretation

The old office was transformed into a TV room, with the creation of a false ceiling and the closure of an existing door. Les oak hardwood floors have been renewed in order to preserve the classic style of the house. In the living room, the American walnut is also present in custom furniture, creating a common thread with the bathroom. A wood cassette has been integrated and accompanied by moldings, while a central ceiling highlights the original features while integrating the lighting.

Conclusion

This renovation illustrates the global approach of Home Design: intervening with precision in a villa of character, respecting its architectural language and placing each layout in a coherent, sustainable and faithful to the spirit of the place.
